Wreath Player

Wreath Player is a personal project I did in 2023 to practice a part of the design process I rarely get a chance to do in my professional life, high-fidelity interactive prototyping. I used Protopie, Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Lottie to make the demo.

I came up with the idea when I found it difficult to seek to a specific section of a podcast because the seek bar on all my players was linear and so limited by the width of my device. Long-form podcasts are particularly frustrating to seek because moving the play head a fraction of an inch advances the track in full-minute increments. My idea was to get more runway for the seek bar by turning it into a radial dial. I also included an image of the waveform in the radial dial to help with way-finding within a track. From there, I dug into the details of showing the current time, skipping and replaying tracks, and animating the button icons to create what feels like a fully realized player.
